Before explaining problems, let me know what is your opinion about below statements?
'Oh, I am having lot of problems', 'Too much problem to handle for me', 'Lot of problems in my life', 'I just solved one problem, another problem appears', 'My life is full of problems', ' Problems never leave me alone', 'Again I have to solve another problem'.
Does the above phrases sounds familiar to you? At least I have used all of them at certain point in my life. How do we perceive PROBLEM? Problem means that you are dwelling on a situation mentally without there being a true intention or possibility of taking action now and that you are unconsciously (`by Eckhart Tolle).
Our mind loves problem, that’s why it always tries to stay near to problem. What if we change our mindset a little bit? Let's look the problems as a scenario or conditions or situations. What happens when you face any situation? Either you accept yourself as a part of that situation (take necessary action) or you simply ignore that situation (no action, only think about it)?
Let's assume there is a leakage in the tap which is located in your kitchen. Everyday lot of water is getting wasted. What are the options available for you now?
- You accept the situation, and you decide to take action.
- You ignore that situation, and you are fine with the water wastage in your kitchen. You did not take any action.
If the first condition is true (I mean you decide to take action) - You may take different approaches -
☑️ You remove the tap from the kitchen. You decided to use the tap in other places and stopped the water connection in kitchen. I know it sound weird to think about this solution. But I want to focus on the point that sometimes removing the problem does not solve anything permanently. It will impact in other places.
☑️ You put a tape or m-seal to fix it. It is kind of amending the existing solution. It may not be a permanent solution, but you are fine to solve it temporarily.
☑️ You decide to change the tap and the connecting pipe, reinforce the joints with new tape and m-seal. You made a strong solution permanently.
So, there are three simple ways when you take action to solve any scenario - You remove that from your life, you make amendment on existing way to find a solution, you create a new way to find a permanent solution. So, it is up to you, how you prefer to take the action.
Apart from the above scenarios, there is another scenario. Every day you see the water wastage and think about it that you have to solve that problem. Day and night, you are thinking about it, and you make it part of your life. Rather than taking action, your mind is chattering continuously and prompting it as a problem. You have no idea or plan when in the future you are going to take action, till that time you are thinking about it. This does not make any sense, right? You have enough in your plate to work on, why you want to carry something in your mind which you don't intent to take action? Life is full of challenges, why you want to add problems into it?
And here goes my favorite quote - 'Life is not about living without problems. Life is about solving problems' - Tom Krause
Happy problem solving.
